No More Hair For Hope
I regret to tell all of you that... i will not be shaving for Hair for Hope this year after all.
Apparently I have missed their application deadline and due to some system limitations and other administration problems, they were not able to give me both the online pledge as well as the pledge card. Without these, I am not confident that I will be able to raise as much funds as I would like to. Therefore, I have made the decision to not take part in this event.
To be honest, I do find them very inflexible and a little..... unfeeling for a charity organization. But hey... let's not judge an organization by its cover. heh~!
However, please do not let me stop you from supporting their cause. If you would still like to donate, i'm sure you know where to go.
Thank you so much everyoneeeee....!

Hair For Hope

I am sure some of you have heard of the news that Daphne Yuan is taking part in the "Hair For Hope" event held this year.
This means that she would be shaving her head for charity, in support for the Children's Cancer Foundation.
Yes you read it right.
Shave her head.
and.....
..........I am going to do it with her.
Yes me!
The girl who will always be caught checking out her fringe at every reflection she can find.
*grin*
On a serious note, I have been contemplating to participate in this event for the longest time! It is definitely not an easy decision for me and I have been thinking so hard about it and asking everyone around me for advice and opinions. I took all of them in. The encouraging and the harsh.
However, it still boils down to me.
What do I want to do and how do I feel about doing it.
To me, my initial and biggest motivation was definitely the donations. If I were able to raise more funds by shaving my head, and try my best to spread the awareness to as many people as I can, I think it's worth it enough for me to do it.
A lot of people have pointed out to me that, there are other ways to do charity. That I dont have to go to such extreme.
I agree.
But I feel that this is one of the ways that I am able to make an impact, big enough to raise (hopefully) a considerable amount of donations.
However, during the time that I was telling my friends about Hair for Hope, I realised that it is more than about the money. I get to not only spread awareness about the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF), but also to remind my friends about the importance of giving back to the community.
It does not have to be for the Children's Cancer Foundation. It can be for any social organizations that you believe in.
Sometimes, in the midst of our busy working schedule, I feel that it is important to be reminded of..... the things that really matters in life.... the bigger things in life.
=)
So!
I am of course here to spread awareness for this particular event that I am participating in, the Hair for Hope, organised by the Children's Cancer Foundation (ccf).
Would really like to call out to everyone to please donate generously (in support of me and daphne) for this event.
As to how..... this is where it gets abit tricky.
Due to my late decision to participate in this event, I was not able to register myself in the ccf website. The website allows people to donate online via credit card.
However, please do still visit the Children's Cancer Foundation website and you can either donate through the general donation website, or you can look for Daphne Yuan in the website and donate through her.
http://www.ccf.org.sg/hfh/webApp/listShavees.php
Basically, Daphne agreed to share her online pledge with me!! So please donate through her and leave a message if you wish, to inform me that you have responded to my calling.....
hahahahaha....
I would also be given Pledge Cards soon where you can donate to me directly. So pleasee... dont be shyyy... hahaha..... come harrass me if you would like to donate!
thank you so much.
=)
ps: and oh.. by the way...Hair for Hope 2007 is happening on 1 July 2007 (Sunday) at Velocity@Novena Square. So... if you would like to be there to witness it. COME! *grin*

stress
I can safely say that throughout my student life, I was never under any kind of stress at all.
My student stress was actually a conscious decision to be stressed out.
"Oh... deadline coming, havent done no shit. shit i'm screwed. I'm stressed!"
"Oh no.. I have 8 papers to sit for in 2 weeks! I'm so stressed!"
"Oh crap! 15,000 words essay to be written in a week! i'm super stressed!"
and there's nothing that an all-nighter cannot solve really! ( it's tested and proven!)
and i never have to think about school work when i do get the chance to sleep.
and I never get panic attacks so bad that I couldnt concentrate on what I was doing
and I never have to hide in the toilet to calm myself down
and I never have to stop what I was doing to just breathe
and I never have tears threatening to fall down every 4 seconds
but the worst feeling of all, is to be dead tired, and not be able to sleep at all.
It's like once i close my eyes, a wave of tasks undone come rushing.
I have 250 unread mails in my office inbox.
My office phone showed that I have 20 missed calls today.
It can only mean 2 things:
1) I wasnt at my desk
or
2) I am screwed!
.......and I was at my desk.
And it's 4.33am and I have to get up to blog to get my mind off work.
Maybe it's the "yuan yang" drink (this hk drink where they mix coffee and tea together) that I had for lunch, or that green tea I had for dinner that's keeping me awake.
maaaan i really need to sleep...... please let me sleep....
(such huge contrast from the last entry huh? oh such is life....)

C is for Cookies!
It has been a while since i updated my blooog i knowww... lazy la.. ahhaha...
aniwae.. this entry is SOLELY to SHOW OFF my hand-made cookies! ahahhaHAHAHA... and after reading Daphne Yuan's entry about that day i went to her place to bake...i suddenly have the URGE to tell my side of the story... hhahahha...
why did i suddenly want to bake cookies? hehehe.. to suck up to my colleagues and boss of course.
HAHAHAHAHAHA... kiddddiiiiiinnnnnngggggggg!!!!!!! i'm kidding i'm kiddding!
(oh yeaa.. i'm working everybooodyyyy.. the slacker shit fel has finally found a job! *grin*)
well... i kinda mentioned to them that i have a friend who loves to bake and i'm getting influenced by her and all... and sooo.. i decided to bake them something just for the fun of it. and also to thank them for helping me out during my first 2 weeks of work of course. and i foresee myself to have to bother them a lot in the near future... so this is like a thank you thing. (hmmm.... how come it still sounds like i'm sucking up, just rephrased... AHHAHAHA)
oh well.. just spreaading some looooveee... ahhahhaha... and it was fun. like people start to talk to me more.. ahahahhaHAHHAHA....
aniwae... life is G-R-E-A-T! never thot i'll say that after uni (cos i thot uni days were like the best times of my life and working life's gonna suck) but i actually think life is EVEN better now. heheheeh.... been doing alot of things after work with daph...doing yoga...eating alot of good stuff... and playing a lot of sports with my old friends.... and taking up new sports... basically... i've been leaving the house at 8am and coming back only at around midnite almost everydaay!
sis : Do you have to live your life like there's no tomorrow?
hahahaha...YES! that's the whole point man! life's too short. and i have 1001 other things that i cant wait to do! and i have to thank miss yuan and the book "Tuesdays with Morrie" for this revelation. hahahahhaa.. miss yuan is the only person i know who will not have nothing to do! (ahhahahaha....too many negating words there...i meant she somehow always manage to occupy herself with alot of things and some of that enthusiasm might have just rubbed off on me... =) ! )
A quote from a book i am reading (wowww fel reads booookss!! ahahah)...
"When it's all over, Jack, you're remembered for what you did, not what you said you were going to do" -Salem Falls-
(ahahahaha... i know i know.... the "Jack" was so unnecessary..!)
yes and so i have decided to stop being someone who keeps saying she's going to do stuff but never do them...... and to actuaaally start doing them! hee hee hee...
sis : you are just excited about your new life. we'll see how long it lasts...
